"The Flavorful Monster of the Scent Maze"
Part Two: Air Traps and Gates
After leaving the monster's area, the Scent Maze becomes even more treacherous.
The corridor begins to narrow, and the walls on both sides are made of dark cocoa bricks.
When your fingers touch them, they leave a faint trace of chocolate powder.
The air is filled with a sweet fragrance, making you want to inhale more—
But Grandpa Licorice frowned and whispered a warning: "It's too sweet. Be careful of traps."
Sure enough, a "fragrant mist trap" appeared ahead.
The ground was covered with nutmeg powder, and beneath the powder were paper-thin vanilla leaf pedals.
Stepping on them would cause a secret compartment in the wall to open, spewing out a strong garlic mist.
The choking smell was so intense that tears streamed down my face, and my sense of direction was instantly lost.
HuoHuo first extended one end of his blue-green scarf, letting the cool breeze flow along the ground.
He found a safe spot—where the powder swayed slightly was the trap.
Yuanyuan then tossed a few hawthorn berries from her small round hat. The sour aroma dispelled the garlic mist,
refreshing the air in the maze.
After passing the trap, the corridor ended at a tall "Spice Rune Door."
The door was engraved with interlaced spice patterns:
Star anise, cloves, Sichuan peppercorns, rosemary, basil, turmeric...
In the center of each pattern was a small, slightly smoking hole.
Chef Qu took a closer sniff, his eyes lighting up. "This is the scent code!
You must press the spice symbols on the door in the order of their aromas to open the passage."
The four of them divided the work:
Sandy Spice was responsible for sniffing out the strength of each spice;
HuoHuo used a cool breeze to control the aromas from mixing;
Yuanyuan used the sour and sweet taste of hawthorn to "cleanse the senses";
Chef Qu reached out and pressed the symbols for star anise, Sichuan peppercorn, rosemary, and turmeric, in that order.
"Click-click!" A heavy mechanism rang out, and
the rune-shaped door slowly opened to the sides like a petal,
revealing the next section of the spice corridor, shimmering with golden light.
The walls seemed to flow with waves of fragrance,
and on the ground, trails of incense powder like a rainbow,
pointing deeper into the center of the maze—
there, it was said, lay the legendary "Key to the Fragrance King."
